Brown Girls Do Ballet® Tiny dancer scholarship

The Brown Girls Do Ballet® Tiny Dancer Scholarship is full-year ballet tuition for young dancers and is only available to young girls aged 4-8. We know that the journey to Principal Ballerina begins with their very first class, and we hope that we can help spark the interest of a young girl who will one day lead a company. Applicants do not have to be currently enrolled in a dance program but must be prepared to enroll upon receipt of funds.

Requirements:

  • Photo (does not have to be professional)

  • Parent/Guardian Letter of Interest

  • A one-minute intro video. Tell us why you want to take dance!

  • Must provide ballet tuition information for the program of your choice.

  • Proof of annual household income (such as a W-2 form; you may mark out Social Security Numbers)

The application opens April 1, 2024, and closes June 30, 2024. Submissions must be received by June 30, 2024 at 6:00pm CST.

The chosen recipient will be notified by August 2024.

Kennedy George and Ava Holloway Dance for Change Scholarship

The Kennedy George and Ava Holloway Dance for Change Scholarship is awarded to female dancers of color ages 6-16 who have registered for a year-long dance program. This program recognizes young dancers who are changemakers in their school or community who would not otherwise be able to dance without financial assistance.

Priority is given to applicants who demonstrate financial need; however, we invite all who qualify to apply. This scholarship is intended to cover tuition and/or additional costs associated with dance needs (such as pointe shoes, leotards, travel expenses, etc.).

This scholarship is open to U.S. residents.

Brown Girls Do Ballet® Micro Grant Program

The Brown Girls Do Ballet® Micro Grant Program is designed to increase access to and opportunity for education, travel, and professional tools for small dance programs and dancers of all ages year-round.

Requirements:

  • Dance Resume

  • Letter of Recommendation

  • Proof of annual household income (such as a W-2 form; you may mark out Social Security Numbers)

Award amounts are currently up to $1,000.00.

Applications will be accepted twice per year.

If you meet the eligibility criteria (outlined above), you may apply at any time throughout the year.

The application opens on January 2, 2024, and closes on May 31, 2024. Submissions must be received by May 31, 2024 at 6:00pm CST.

The chosen recipient will be notified by June 30, 2024.

Brown Girls Do Ballet® Summer Intensive Scholarship

The annual Brown Girls Do Ballet® Summer Intensive Scholarship is a $500.00 scholarship given to dancers ages 9-18 who have been accepted to and have registered for a summer intensive program. Preference will be given to an applicant who demonstrates financial need, however, we invite all who qualify to apply. This scholarship is intended to cover additional costs associated with dance needs (such as pointe shoes, leotards, travel expenses, etc.).

This scholarship is open to U.S. residents only.

The application opens May 1, 2024, and closes May 31, 2024. Submissions must be received by May 31, 2024 at 6:00pm CST.

The chosen recipient will be notified by June 30, 2024.

Requirements:

  • Dance Resume

  • Full-body dance photo (does not have to be professional)

  • Most recent Report Card

  • Letter of Recommendation - must be from someone who is familiar with your skills as a dancer and leader (such as a dance teacher, school teacher, coach, counselor, community leader, etc.)

  • A one-minute solo video (can be classical or contemporary)

  • Summer Intensive acceptance letter and recent invoice showing payment

  • Proof of annual household income (such as a W-2 form; you may mark out Social Security Numbers)

CYDNI LAWSON MORRIS MEMORIAL Scholarship

The Cydni Lawson Morris Memorial Scholarship is currently a $500 scholarship. This scholarship recognizes young people from the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area who are changemakers in their schools or community. DFW students in performing and visual arts and related technical fields are encouraged to apply.

One or more scholarships will be awarded each year to a Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) graduating high school senior and/or continuing college or vocational student. Students must pursue a degree or certificate from a private or non-profit public, technical-vocational institution, including a community college.

Priority will be given to a Dallas-Fort Worth first-generation student from a racial/ethnic minority background who demonstrates financial need; however, we invite all who qualify to apply. This scholarship is open to students graduating in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area or residents of DFW only.

The application opens on January 2, 2024, and closes on May 31, 2024. Submissions must be received by May 31, 2024 at 6:00pm CST.

Brown Girls Do® Inc 2023 College Scholarship

The annual Brown Girls Do®Inc College Scholarship is a $1,000.00 scholarship awarded to full-time college undergraduate students across any field of study*.

Priority will be given to a first generation student in college who demonstrates financial need, however, we invite all who qualify to apply. 

This scholarship is open to U.S. residents only.

The application opens May 1, 2024 and closes June 30, 2024. Submissions must be received by June 30, 2024 at 6:00pm CST.

The chosen recipient will be notified by August 30, 2024.

Requirements

  • Enrollment verification from a 4-year university (must be enrolled full-time)

  • Good Academic Standing (if you do not currently have a college GPA, you must also submit a high school report card from your final semester)

  • Proof of annual household income (such as a W-2 form; you may mark out Social Security Numbers)

  • Essay questions

  • Letter of Recommendation

*Note: You do not need to have been a dancer to qualify.
