Kenya Ross

Kenya W. Ross is a local TV news reporter, digital media journalist, ballet enthusiast, and health tech startup founder.

In March 2017, Kenya became the founder, host, and independent dance journalist of PowerPointe — an online multimedia ballet brand producing digital media feature stories on what's happening in the ballet world.

Kenya made her debut as a winter fashion writer for the 2017 November/December issue of Lola Magazine in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Kenya is a native of Monroe, Louisiana, where she graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) in Spring 2014 with her B.A. in Communication Studies. She took ballet and modern dance classes with the Visual and Performing Arts Program under the instruction of Robin Stephens and Tina Mullone. During her final semester at ULM, Kenya became a member of the Theta Zeta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Kenya began her career in TV journalism in 2018 as a digital content producer at KTBS 3 News in Shreveport. In 2021, she moved back to her hometown and started working at KNOE 8 News as a digital news producer. Seven months later, she transitioned into an on-air role at the TV station - where you can now watch her report stories across the ArkLaMiss; Monday - Friday during the evening shows. While working in local TV news, she is continuing to pursue digital media entrepreneurship through her online ballet media brand PowerPointe and partnering with community incubators to launch her health tech startup company – MYEXCUSE.

Outside of work, Kenya enjoys exploring nature, reading about animals in the wildlife, playing tennis, and running a few miles on a weekly basis.

She serves on the board of directors for Brown Girls Do Ballet and is a former member of the National Press Photographers Association.

Kenya is a current member of the News Product Alliance and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
